Job Purpose

Responsible for maintaining our product specifications and ensuring that our food products meet our high standards of quality and safety


Reports To

Technical Services Manager


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date product specifications in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure all raw materials and finished products meet specifications and comply with quality and safety standards
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and external regulatory requirements
  • Participate in external audits, ensuring compliance with external standards and regulations
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and accurate
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and safety
  • Review and approve artwork and packaging materials to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements
  • Participate in supplier audits and assessments to ensure the quality and safety of raw materials
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to food safety, quality, and labelling
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation related to specifications, quality control, and auditing activities
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful launch of new products and/or changes to existing products

Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field
  • 3 years + experience in a food manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of quality control and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of HACCP, BRC, and/or other relevant food safety and quality management systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational and analytical skills
  • Experience in conducting internal audits is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of food legislation and labelling regulations in the UK and/or Ireland
  • Experience with retailer specifications systems (e.g., M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Lidl)
  • Experience with food product development processes and project management
  • Experience with risk assessment and management processes (e.g., FMEA)
  • Experience with supplier management and auditing processes
  • Experience with food safety management systems (e.g., ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRC)
  • Familiarity with food laboratory testing methods and equipment
