We are looking for a skilled Material Handler in Portland, Oregon to support our extensive logistics operations. This role is critical for ensuring the smooth movement of materials throughout our facility. You will operate machinery, manage inventory flow, and ensure that materials are ready for production or shipment. The ideal candidate will be experienced with various types of material handling equipment and possess a strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols. Accuracy, efficiency, and a proactive approach are key to success in this position. - Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Move materials from receiving to storage areas, and from storage to shipping docks.
- Load and unload trucks and containers.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels through proper placement and tracking.
- Identify and report any damaged materials or equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure all materials are handled in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the receiving and shipping areas.
- Support production and shipping departments by ensuring timely material availability.
- Participate in regular inventory counts and audits.
- Follow all company procedures and contribute to operational excellence in logistics.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role.
- Valid forklift operator certification or demonstrated proficiency.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including moderate Lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong knowledge of material handling equipment and warehouse operations.
- Excellent understanding of safety procedures and protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding logistics environment.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
