Job Summary and Responsibilities
Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a an Physician Assistant for a full time orthopedic opportunity at St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood, WA. Our new provider will be joining a busy and friendly orthopedic surgeon committed to the success of the team. The service is focused on collaboration with a broader multidisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
The selected provider will enjoy a great amount of autonomy and will run their own clinic.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Assists in the surgical suite including first assist, deep and superficial wound closure, application of internal devices and any other procedures delegated by the supervising surgeon
Performs pre-operative and post-operative care in clinics
Performs comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations
Interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests in clinics
Formulates a treatment plan for conditions within their scope of practice
Exercises judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral or evaluation by the supervising surgeon or other health care professionals
Orders, collects and performs appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies, such as routine laboratory tests and radiologic examinations including CT, MRI and bone scan studies.
Conducts hospital rounds, writes orders, and sees patients in the ED for the surgeon if needed
Weekend rounding on infrequent / as-needed basis. No night call
Average schedule is Monday-Friday consisting of OR (surgery) inclusive of both clinic/hospital work. Schedule to include one administrative day per week.
Compensation range based on experience: $141,240 - $194,683 /year DOE, plus additional wRVU productivity

Job Requirements
Experience as an Physician Assistant preferred, willing to mentor and train selected provider
Surgical experience as an Physician Assistant is also preferred
Washington State license in good standing
Board certified
DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association
