Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to support a major pharmaceutical plant project. The role involves mechanical take-offs, quantity measurement, and cost estimation for pipework, ductwork, and drainage systems. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to deliver accurate commercial and technical support throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and review mechanical drawings, including:
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Air Flow & Instrumentation Diagrams (AF&IDs)
  • Isometric drawings
  • Pipework, ductwork, and drainage systems
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs from mechanical drawings.
  • Quantify items not explicitly shown on drawings, such as welds, joints, flanges, pipe supports, and fittings.
  • Prepare pricing and rate analysis for client submissions.
  • Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and commercial documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate measurement and costing.
  • Support procurement and tender evaluation by providing accurate mechanical cost data.
  • Ensure all work complies with project standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Participate in project progress meetings and reporting as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in industrial or pharmaceutical projects, focusing on mechanical works.
  • Strong experience in mechanical take-offs, BOQs, and cost estimation for pipework, ducting, and drainage.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, AF&IDs, isometrics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of construction measurement standards (NRM, POMI, or equivalent).
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel; familiarity with CostX, Primavera P6, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, process plant, or industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of project contract types and variations (Lump Sum, Unit Rate, EPC). xcfaprz
