Salary Range: $23.85 – $25.04 per hour

Position Overview

Strongwell is seeking a Drafter I to support customers, designers, engineers, and project managers by producing accurate technical drawings and design documentation. This role serves as a key link between customer specifications, sales quotations, and manufacturing by preparing detailed approval drawings and documentation ready for production.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and eager to grow their drafting expertise in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers to determine required specifications and drawings
  • Create and modify 2D and/or 3D technical drawings from sketches, verbal instructions, and engineering specifications
  • Prepare layout, assembly, and detailed drawings in accordance with company standards
  • Assist with design packages, construction documents, and submittals
  • Support Fabrication and Assembly teams by interpreting drawings and production orders
  • Become familiar with sourcing non-standard parts to assist Buyers with ordering
  • Ensure drawings comply with applicable industry codes and internal quality requirements
  • Maintain organized drawing archives and version control for compliance and traceability
  • Work overtime as business needs require
  • Follow all company guidelines, rules, and procedures outlined in the Team Member Handbook and internal communications

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge

  • High School diploma with two years of occupational or technical training
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other CAD software such as Inventor or SolidWorks
  • Understanding of basic drafting principles, dimensioning, and drawing standards
  • Ability to interpret sketches, blueprints, technical notes, and engineering instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Knowledge of composites—particularly fiberglass and structural performance —is a plus
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with a team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Primarily sedentary role with extended periods working at a computer
  • Occasional work on the plant floor, including walking, squatting, and bending
  • Manufacturing environment may include exposure to moving machinery, fiberglass, fumes, and chemicals

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Pay: $23.85 – $25.04
  • Quarterly Bonuses: 4 quarterly bonuses paid at the end of the month following each quarter
  • Annual Bonus: Paid in March
  • Profit Sharing: 5.5%
  • 401(k): 4% company match
