Job Summary: Responsible for administering and maintaining the district's communications and peripheral systems, including phone, printer, and audio/visual infrastructure. This position performs skilled technical work involving configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of interconnected systems that support daily district operations and Board functions. The Network Administrator collaborates with Network Engineers to implement and optimize procedures, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance with district standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Administer and maintain the district's phone systems, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of VoIP infrastructure. Manage extensions, call routing, voicemail, and conferencing features, coordinating vendor support for repairs and upgrades. Provide Tier 2/3 support to IT Support Technicians for phone-related issues, and collaborate with Network Engineers to ensure reliability, security, and alignment with district standards. Manage and support the district's printer and copier fleet. Oversee print management systems, device configurations, and service requests to ensure reliable operation across schools and departments. Provide Tier 2/3 support to IT Support Technicians for escalated printer issues, coordinating with vendors for maintenance, parts, and supply management, and ensuring consistent performance and uptime. Administer and support district audio/visual systems, including classroom and meeting room technologies such as SMART Boards, interactive panels, projectors, Poly conferencing systems, and ScreenBeam devices. Provide Tier 2/3 support for complex A/V troubleshooting and assist IT Support Technicians with escalated issues. Collaborate with Instructional Technology and vendors to evaluate and implement emerging A/V technologies that enhance usability and accessibility. Serve as the lead technical support for Board of Education meetings and district leadership events. Collaborate with the IT Support Manager to ensure all Board Room A/V systems, presentation technologies, and streaming components are tested, operational, and supported in person during each meeting. Perform network monitoring, maintenance, and documentation for assigned systems, maintaining accurate configuration records, backups, and performance logs. Identify and report system irregularities or outages in coordination with Network Engineers. Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for assigned systems, responding to escalated tickets involving phones, printers, or A/V infrastructure. Utilize diagnostic tools, vendor resources, and advanced troubleshooting techniques to resolve complex issues and prevent recurrence. Coordinate vendor support and participate in technology lifecycle management activities, including repairs, license renewals, and product evaluations. Provide recommendations to improve system performance, user experience, and long-term sustainability. Perform other duties as assigned in support of district technology operations and initiatives. Education, Training and Experience:
Associate's degree in Information Technology or a related technical field required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be substituted for formal education. Coursework or certifications in network administration, computer systems, or communications technology desirable. Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in technical systems administration or network support, including configuration and troubleshooting of phones, printers, and audio/visual systems. Experience providing Tier 2/3 support within a complex environment preferred. K 12 or public-sector experience strongly preferred. Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience administering networked communication and peripheral systems, including VoIP phone systems, print management platforms, and audio/visual technologies. Ability to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot systems such as Poly conferencing, SMART and CleverTouch interactive panels, ScreenBeam devices, and other integrated A/V components. Proficiency in workstation and network fundamentals, including TCP/IP connectivity, VLAN concepts, and device registration processes. Working knowledge of network monitoring, inventory, and ticketing systems to document work, track incidents, and identify recurring issues. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to provide Tier 2/3 support for complex issues and to assist IT Support Technicians through guidance, escalation support, and knowledge sharing. Effective communication and customer service skills for working with staff, administrators, vendors, and technology team members. Ability to prioritize multiple requests, adapt to changing environments, and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work. Operating knowledge of standard productivity software, remote management tools, and diagnostic utilities required for hire. Ability to follow and promote district policies, safety protocols, and professional standards in all technical work. Certificate, Licenses and Registrations:
CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications preferred; additional certifications in VoIP administration, printer management, or A/V technologies desirable. Certifications related to network administration or system management (such as Microsoft, Cisco, or equivalent vendor credentials) are advantageous. Valid Colorado driver's license. Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
