Self Serve Lumber & Home Center, is the convenient, local alternative to the big box home stores. We are a family own and run business and have been since 1953. With our fourth generation of family leadership and 18 stores across Michigan, we are always looking for exceptional talent!


Work Location: In-Person, Durand, MI


Pay: $19.00/hr. - $22.00/hr. or more, based on experience


Reports To: Operations


Summary:

The project estimator is responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, prepares accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics and provides knowledge of cost and plans for profitable customer projects.


Duties

  • Gather proposals, prints, sketches, specifications and related documents for needed estimates.
  • Maintain relationships with contractors and management teams
  • Computes cost for materials.
  • Resolves any discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data.
  • Continually updates technical knowledge by support and reviewing technical publications.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • College degree in construction or engineering is preferred but not required.
  • At least 2-3 years construction experience
  • Estimating experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to coordinate and work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings and utilize estimating software to successfully produce estimates.
  • Knowledge of Maestro, Smartbuild Systems or other design programs is a plus.
  • Understanding of construction for barns, garages, sheds, decks and other construction projects.
