Technology plays a critical role in how The AA supports millions of drivers, from the platforms behind our roadside services to the systems powering our insurance and digital products. As we continue to modernise and expand our technology landscape, managing technology risk effectively is key to ensuring resilience, security and sustainable growth.
As a Technology Risk Manager within our Operational Resilience team in the Chief Operating Office , you’ll help shape and strengthen how technology risk is identified, assessed and managed across the organisation. Working closely with teams across IT, Digital, Change, Data and third-party suppliers , you’ll partner with senior stakeholders to provide clear oversight of technology risk, influence decision-making and help build a more resilient technology environment for The AA.
What will I be doing?- Lead and evolve the First Line of Defence (1LOD) technology risk framework, ensuring alignment with The AA’s enterprise risk management approach.
- Partner with teams across IT, Digital, Data, Change and Operational Resilience to identify, assess and manage technology risks across the COO landscape.
- Deliver technology risk and control effectiveness assessments, including supporting and overseeing Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) activities.
- Produce clear, high-quality risk reporting, translating complex information into meaningful insights, management information and key risk indicators for senior leadership.
- Act as a trusted advisor on technology risk, providing guidance, influence and constructive challenge to support effective risk mitigation.
- Monitor third-party and emerging technology risks, ensuring appropriate controls are in place and helping the business stay ahead of evolving threats and industry developments.
- Strong experience in technology risk, IT risk, or information security, with a solid understanding of risks across modern technology environments.
- Knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks and regulatory standards, such as NIST, ISO, SOX or GDPR.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, challenge constructively and build trusted relationships across technical and business teams.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, able to translate complex risk or technical information into clear insights for senior stakeholders.
- Good understanding of modern technology environments, including areas such as cloud, data governance, systems architecture and emerging technologies like AI or automation.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA, ITIL) or equivalent experience, with the ability to work collaboratively and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
