The Mail Intelligence Organization develops intelligent capabilities at scale to uncover interests, reveal habits, and personalize user journeys across Yahoo Mail and the entire Yahoo ecosystem. We seek innovative engineers driven to deliver exceptional user experiences.

• Support the development of AI/ML capabilities that enhance user personalization and insights within Yahoo Mail and the broader Yahoo ecosystem.
  
• Assist in building scalable solutions that identify user interests and habits, contributing to personalized user experiences.
  
• Work closely with cross‑functional teams in the USA to integrate backend solutions that enhance user experiences.
  
• Design robust system architectures using modern frameworks and cloud technologies.
  
• Continuously improve system performance and scalability.
  
• Collaborate with tech leads to align backend strategies with business goals.
  
• Implement mechanisms to handle system failures gracefully.
  
• Balance cost, quality, and speed in backend solutions to optimize performance.

• Strong foundation in computer science or a related field, focusing on backend technologies and cloud platforms.
  
• Proficiency in building stateful and stateless systems at scale; experience with OOP languages such as Java, C++, or similar; solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, OS, and networking.
  
• Skilled in designing and developing high‑performing, complex server applications.
  
• Experience with AI development tools such as Cursor, Copilot, and Claude.
  
• Strong analytical skills and a knack for solving complex backend challenges.
  
• Team player who can work effectively with cross‑functional teams, including tech leads and architects.
  
• Enthusiastic about leveraging backend engineering to drive innovation across Yahoo’s ecosystem.
  
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering robust, scalable solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  
• 3+ years in backend engineering or related field.
  
• Strong skills in Java, C++, or similar OOP languages; proficiency in building scale‑suitable stateful and stateless systems.
  
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  
• Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and implementation of efficient, scalable solutions.
  
• Experience working with international teams and cross‑functional collaboration.
  
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with US‑based teams.
  
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new backend technologies and methodologies.
  
• Leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) as a core part of daily workflow.

• Prior experience with email systems or related technologies.
  
• Self‑driven, detail‑oriented, strong teamwork spirit, excellent communication skills, and ability to multitask and manage expectations effectively.
  
• Cloud Experience: Experience with public cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Preferred.
