Responsible for carrying out the commissioning process from receipt of the Project Handover file from senior management through to final project handover and closure. This includes completion of all records and preparation of the project Operation & Maintenance (O&M) file where required.
The role also involves documenting and maintaining the schedule of works for all commissioning activities and ensuring it is updated on an ongoing basis.
All commissioning data must be documented accurately and delivered to the commissioning manager or relevant client personnel in a timely manner.
Key ResponsibilitiesCommission medium voltage switchgear, current transformers, voltage transformers, Rogowski coils, distribution and power transformers, protection relays, power quality meters, high-voltage cables, and HMI/supervisory systems.
Program, configure, and test relay I/O, settings, and logic.
Review tender, design, construction, and as-built drawings in a timely manner and ensure effective records are retained for commissioning development, quality assurance, and documentation control.
Identify critical commissioning requirements and communicate these effectively to all relevant personnel involved in design and drawing outputs. This includes discrimination studies and other related studies.
Develop testing and commissioning procedures, standards, and documentation. Issue required pre-commissioning and testing protocols.
Contribute to the continuous improvement and development of existing systems and procedures while ensuring compliance with ISO standards.
Carry out Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Cold Commissioning, and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
Act as a representative on customer sites and liaise with customers, contractors, subcontractors, on-site personnel, and third parties to ensure the safe and timely execution of projects.
Act as the client's representative on site when required to ensure successful project execution. Supervise, witness, and approve or reject pre-commissioning, commissioning, and testing procedures and results on behalf of the client.
Review, sign off, and hand over documentation upon project completion.
Record and report commissioning non-conformances.
Provide input into accident investigations, incidents, non-conformances, and customer complaints when required.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Previous experience working with high-voltage (HV) systems.
Good working knowledge of Protection, Automation, and Control Systems.
Proficiency in relevant software packages.
Previous experience using electrical commissioning equipment.
Strong teamwork skills, a motivated attitude, and excellent attention to detail.
