Description TEKsystems client is going through a complete refresh of all network equipment. This person will support that effort and report into the Wireless Engineering team and manager. They will support the Wireless refresh effort to replace Cisco 8540 Wireless controllers with 9800 Series Controllers in various environments, including enterprise networks in the coming year. They will be required to: o Set up wireless access points (Client), VLANs, SSIDs, policies, and security settings. o Implement advanced features like RF management, guest access, and seamless roaming. o Work on migrating our users from AirOS to IOS controller platform o Provide Day 2 support post migration i.e Diagnose and resolve issues related to wireless networks, such as connectivity problems, performance degradation, and interference o Optimize the network's performance using the features available in the Cisco o Apply patches and software upgrades to ensure the controllers are running the latest and most secure versions. o Adhere to our Change Management Process to schedule maintenance windows for implementation o Perform backup and restore functions to maintain network integrity. o Configure security protocols like WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X, and other encryption methods to ensure wireless network security. o Implement security features like rogue AP detection and containment. o Document configurations, topologies, and troubleshooting steps for future reference. o Provide reports on wireless network performance and suggestions for improvements. o Work with other network engineers, IT staff, and business units to ensure the wireless network meets the needs of the organization. o Provide support to other departments and users when wireless network issues arise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications The candidate must have In-depth knowledge of Cisco 9800 controllers and their deployment, configuration, and management. In-depth knowledge of Cisco 8540 controllers and their deployment, configuration, and management. Familiarity with networking protocols such as 802.11 (Wi-Fi standards), VLAN, DNS, DHCP, and IP addressing. Expertise in wireless technologies including Wi-Fi design, RF (Radio Frequency) principles, site surveys, interference mitigation, and signal propagation. Knowledge of wireless network security protocols such as WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X, and RADIUS for enterprise-grade security. Ability to use Catalyst Center for Template deployment. Use of wireless site survey tools and RF planning software (e.g., Ekahau, AirMagnet). Strong skills in diagnosing network problems and using tools like Wireshark, Cisco Catalyst Center, or syslog for debugging and troubleshooting.
Interview Information Phone with Lead Engineer, then face-to-face with Manager. Should be 2 rounds of interviews. start with 1 hour with manager and team, second will be with other team members, and third with manager and Director.
