We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Engineer for a contract role within a high-performing Device Engineering team. This position is central to the development of a new, complex medical device, offering the chance to work on a project from concept through to validation.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of engineering activities for New Product Development and Sustaining projects.
- Design and develop electro‑mechanical components, assemblies, and plastic single‑use parts.
- Lead the creation and execution of test plans and protocols; analyse data and draft detailed test reports.
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis to solve complex engineering problems.
- Build, test, and evaluate prototypes, iterating on designs for optimal performance.
- Actively participate in and lead technical design reviews.
- Ensure all work complies with design control and risk management standards in a regulated environment.
The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on problem‑solver, eager to contribute to a complex development project. While experience in a regulated environment is a plus, a strong fundamental engineering skill set and a collaborative spirit are most important.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of post‑graduate experience in a mechanical engineering role.
- Proven proficiency in 3D CAD; SolidWorks is essential.
- Hands‑on experience with prototyping and lab testing.
- A self‑starter who can manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong team‑oriented mindset.
Advantageous Experience
- 5+ years of experience within Medical Device development.
- Familiarity with Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and design controls. xcfaprz
