Location:
Christchurch, onsite, contractual base.
The role
requires weekly travel to Greater London and Buckinghamshire.
Candidates
may be based in the Midlands, the South or the South East, provided they can meet the weekly travel requirements.
Salary:
Up to £49,100 (Depending on skill and experience)

What you’ll be doing:
This role is a core systems engineering position, responsible for the full lifecycle of IT and Telecommunications solutions. You will
lead
the technical delivery from requirements
analysis
and costed solution design through integration, implementation and commissioning across both reference facilities and customer sites. A key part of
the role
is producing and maintaining high‑quality engineering artefacts, including detailed design drawings, installation documentation and accurate ‘As Fitted’ records, ensuring every system is built, configured and documented to engineering standards.
You will also define and execute rigorous test schedules,
managing
entry and exit criteria, resource planning and performance validation to ensure system readiness. Beyond deployment, you will oversee ongoing system maintenance, upgrades and continuous improvement activities. With
ownership
of work package delivery, you’ll ensure all engineering outputs, technical, operational and customer‑facing are delivered to the agreed scope, quality and timelines.
Core duties:
You’ll have
proven
experience designing, implementing and commissioning Information Technology and Telecommunications systems
You’ll hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant Engineering subject
You’ll have an understanding and practical application of the Defence Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Standard
You’ll have an understanding and practical application of BS 7671:2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations
You’ll have an understanding of the application of Electromagnetic Security (TEMPEST) and its application to secure systems and installations is beneficial
The Systems Team:
This long‑term appointment is a complement to the existing team of 45 specialists who provide support to a fully integrated command and
control
system for the MoD. This exciting systems and software programme spans multiple disciplines, including design, development, installation, implementation, integration, acceptance, training and logistics support. The programme is delivered entirely from our Christchurch site, supporting our customer across various MoD locations.
