Staff Data Engineer
Location: Limerick, Ireland
Responsibilities
- Gather business and functional requirements and translate them into robust, scalable solutions aligned with Data Architecture guidelines.
- Perform hands-on development work on data analysis, data provisioning, data modeling, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Design and develop using technologies such as Fivetran, Snowflake, DBT, Python, SQL, Spark, Kubernetes, Kafka, and cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Handle petabyte-scale structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data by designing, building, and maintaining robust data processing frameworks for actionable insights and analytics.
- Communicate the value of data by articulating high-level concepts and detailed user stories for feature enhancements and drive data-driven improvements across teams.
- Develop subject matter expertise in understanding key strategic data sources and data lineage within the organization.
- Create dashboards using enterprise tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data scientists, and analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Perform root cause analysis of issues that hinder data quality and work with data source owners to improve quality and accuracy.
- Operate with autonomy, taking end-to-end ownership of data initiatives while collaborating with the broader team to deliver outcomes.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including 4+ years working with data engineering technologies.
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Broad expertise with distributed systems, streaming systems, and data engineering tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Kafka, Airflow, Dagster).
- Deep knowledge of Python, SQL, database design, and master data strategies.
- Experience defining, architecting, and rolling out data products, including ownership through their entire lifecycle.
- Experience mentoring and leading junior technical staff, incorporating modern software development tools and practices.
- A confident peer influencer with strong communication skills who quickly establishes credibility across cross-functional technical teams.
Additional Qualifications (good to have)
Experience in the semiconductor industry or a similar domain. Familiarity with handling EDA data. Certifications in cloud platforms or data engineering.
