Principal Software Engineer

Our client is a globally recognised media intelligence organisation and a subsidiary of a major international media group. They operate at the intersection of journalism, technology, and data, and are now building an AI-first Insights Platform to power the future of reputational intelligence, video verification, and data-driven reporting.

They are hiring a Principal Full Stack Engineer to act as the technical spearhead of this transformation. They are looking for a hands-on technical leader who thrives in ambiguity, builds high-impact systems, and mentors teams while shaping long-term strategy.

• Contributing high-value production code (60–70% hands‑on)
• Architecting and governing foundational systems across the organisation
• Leading AI/ML integration strategy and intelligent automation initiatives
• Setting technical standards and influencing roadmap decisions
• Mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of high performance
• Partnering with security and product to ensure scalable, secure, future‑ready systems

You’ll play a central role in building products focused on:

• Reputational risk and narrative intelligence
• Video verification and authenticity at scale
• AI‑powered tools for journalists and analysts

• 10+ years of engineering experience with organisation‑wide system design impact
• Strong full‑stack expertise (React, TypeScript, Python and/or Ruby preferred)
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS
• Experience building experimental prototypes and scaling them into production SaaS products
• Proven ability to influence technical roadmaps and lead incident response
• A strong communicator who can align engineering with business strategy
