Job Description

Ocuco is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to work with our IT and Operations teams worldwide to develop, maintain and enhance Ocuco’s growing IT infrastructure. The role supports the continued growth of the organisation by helping to deliver a secure, scalable and high‑performing infrastructure across the group. Reporting to the IT Manager, this role is based in Ocuco’s HQ and operates on a hybrid working model (3 days per week in the office).


Responsibilities

  • Maintain, support and upgrade IT & Communications infrastructure & related software in‑line with industry best‑practice standards.
  • Maintain and enhance public and private Cloud infrastructure and applications.
  • Ensure infrastructure & process adherence to regulatory security requirements.
  • Research, test, plan & implement new technologies across the group.
  • Investigate, analyse & resolve system problems.
  • Provide escalation support to the Operations department for customer systems issues on an as‑needed basis.

The successful candidate will have

  • 2+ years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, with exposure to cloud and enterprise environments.
  • Experience designing, deploying, managing and securing solutions using Azure PaaS and IaaS services
  • Hands‑on experience designing and managing at least one of these areas:
  • Web server applications, such as IIS, Apache, RDS, AVD.
  • Azure PaaS and IaaS automation and bulk management using scripting, configuration tools, and policies.
  • Microsoft Windows Server, AD and Entra.
  • Excellent analysis, planning, organisation & prioritisation skills.
  • A conscientious and proactive approach to work, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • A collaborative approach, with a strong focus on contributing to and continuously improving the team.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Azure Administrator/Solutions Architect qualification and matching experience.
  • Experience applying DevOps practices to large‑scale or enterprise IT Environments.
  • Hybrid Active Directory environments, RemoteApp and large Windows Server estates.
  • Technical Security, including system hardening, access control, endpoint protection, intrusion prevention, and incident management.
  • Networking qualifications, such as Cisco CCNA.
  • Firewall administration and security.
  • VMWare vCentre planning, install & maintenance. xcfaprz
