The Impact of This Role
At SmartD, we value individual initiative and technical execution. As a Power Electronics Designer, you will be a \"hands-on\" expert bridging the gap between design and high-performance reality. You will:
- Drive Disruption: Assist the hardware team in designing and improving inverter systems utilizing Wide Bandgap (WBG) technology and high-frequency electronic boards.
- Enable Sustainability: Directly improve product efficiency by optimizing for Low THDi and Low common mode voltage , ensuring our VFDs set new standards for energy saving.
- Lead Technical Outcomes: Take ownership of the testing lifecycle—from writing comprehensive testing plans to troubleshooting complex EMI/EMC issues and interfacing with software teams to ensure optimal system integration.
What You Bring
- Technical Expertise:
- Deep knowledge of Inverters, WBG, VFDs, and Filters .
- Expertise in hardware board design mixing high power and high frequency .
- Proficiency in Power Electronic troubleshooting and EMI/EMC mitigation.
- Familiarity with motor control is considered a strong asset.
- Experience:
- 5+ Years of experience in Inverter/VFD design and electronic troubleshooting.
- 5+ Years in electronic board design.
- A proven \"hands-on\" track record in a lab or industrial environment.
- Language: English (Professional) is required; French is considered a valuable asset.
- Mindset: A dedicated problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment where your voice is heard and your work has a tangible impact.

Our Hiring Process
We respect your time and maintain a transparent, 3-step process:
- Introductory Call (20 min): A general discussion via Google Meet to align on interest and fit.
- Technical Discussion (30 min): A technical deep-dive with the Department Head via Google Meet.
- On-Site Interview (1 hour): An in-depth technical meeting with your future colleagues and a tour of our lab.
