Asset Management Compliance Specialist – Job Description

Reports to: Asset Manager of Services

Location: Dartmouth, NS

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the organization adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and industry standards. This role supports risk mitigation by monitoring compliance activities, conducting audits, and providing guidance to internal teams to promote ethical and compliant business practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs and procedures
  • Conduct regular compliance audits, risk assessments, and internal reviews
  • Investigate compliance issues, document findings, and recommend corrective actions
  • Track regulatory changes and assess their impact on business operations
  • Provide compliance training and guidance to employees and management
  • Prepare compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies
  • Support internal and external audits and regulatory examinations
  • Collaborate with legal, risk, HR, and operations teams to address compliance concerns

Qualifications & Skills

  • Familiarity with DOT and IFTA regulations is preferred
  • Proven experience in a compliance, risk, or regulatory role
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Experience with compliance management systems and audit tools
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies relevant to the industry
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
