Job Description

The Senior Operational Excellence Engineer is a critical role in the Global Operational Excellence and Programme Management Team. In this position, you will support the significant expansion of the Ballina manufacturing site, driving the site’s multi‑year growth ambitions through deployment of key lean manufacturing operating principles across the entire workflow. You will collaborate with a variety of leadership and front‑line staff to mature existing OE methodologies and work with other Global OE Team members in defining and implementing a new organisation‑wide operating model focused on embedding organisational excellence across the Diagnostics and Genomics Division. Additionally, the role will develop and provide training to a range of individuals and lead workshops in various Lean systems, including Daily Management System (DMS), Leader Standard Work (LSW), A3/Root Cause Problem Solving and other relevant systems as needed.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Roll out Operational Excellence across the business – Daily Management System, Problem Solving, Leader Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping
  • Training and coaching all levels of business in improvement methodologies with emphasis on Lean/Shingo
  • Training and coaching of KPIs/Metrics/OKRs
  • Development of training materials for effective roll‑out of Lean / Shingo methodologies
  • Strategic Planning: Development and roll‑out of new LGC Operational Excellence Model
  • Coaching and development of local Operational Excellence Champions (non‑OE professionals)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering field
  • 10 years or more of Process Improvement / Operational Excellence / Lean experience
  • Must have extensive experience with improvement methodologies (Lean/TPS, Shingo, SS, ToC, TPM)
  • Able to lead through influence; strong change management skills
  • Strong coaching and training skills
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Must demonstrate good professional judgement and reliability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and networking skills to drive successful relationship building
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with experience or ability to effectively report and track sales metrics
