Managing Director, Automation
Main purpose of the position
The General Manager is the senior leader accountable for the overall performance of the Business Unit, including financial results, operational execution, customer satisfaction, talent development, and alignment with corporate strategy. This role has full P&L responsibility and leads cross functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Business Support functions. The General Manager ensures the Business Unit operates safely, compliantly, and efficiently while delivering high quality engineered solutions that meet customer, regulatory, and business requirements.
Accountabilities
Business Unit Leadership & Strategy (annual operating plan, budget, long-range strategy, growth, stakeholder rep)
Financial & P&L Accountability (revenue/margin/cost/cash flow, budgeting, capital planning, risk/opportunity)
Operational Excellence (KPIs: safety/quality/delivery/productivity/cost, continuous improvement, facility readiness)
Customer & Commercial Leadership (customer satisfaction, escalation point, partner with Sales/Commercial)
People & Culture Leadership (build leadership team, talent/succession/performance management, policy compliance)
Governance, Quality & Compliance (regulatory/quality/safety/environmental compliance; audits)
Supervisory Responsibilities (direct functional leaders; indirect BU employees; senior leadership group member)
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field
10–15 years progressive leadership in manufacturing/automation/engineered solutions
Full P&L responsibility xcfaprz experience
Cross functional leadership experience
Strong financial acumen and business judgment
Global, matrixed organization experience
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
Desired Qualifications
MBA or Master’s in Business/Engineering
Regulated industry experience (medical devices/life sciences/pharma/similar)
International/multicultural team leadership
Custom automation/capital equipment/project-based manufacturing background
Experience scaling operations during growth
