Job Title: Survey Manager

Location: Richmond, VA

We are seeking an experienced Survey Manager to lead and manage surveying operations for land development and public works projects. This role involves preparing proposals, coordinating with clients, overseeing survey field crews, managing contracts, and ensuring project profitability. The Survey Manager will also play a key role in business development and competitive bid pursuits.

• Prepare project proposals and cost estimates

• Serve as a primary point of contact for survey-related client communications

• Provide and oversee site surveying services for land development and public works projects

• Manage and supervise survey field crews and support staff

• Coordinate contract management and ensure projects meet schedule, quality, and budget goals

• Ensure overall project profitability and operational efficiency

• Develop and maintain relationships with local municipalities and approval agencies

• Support subdivision, site plan, and rezoning projects

• Lead business development efforts, including survey client development

• Participate in RFPs, competitive bid pursuits, and pricing strategies

• Boundary surveys

• Topographic surveys

• ALTA/NSPS land title surveys

• Boundary line adjustments

• Construction stakeout and as-built surveys

• Builder packages

• Active Virginia Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license

• Minimum 5 years of experience in land development and public works surveying

• Proven experience supporting subdivision, site plan, and rezoning projects

• Demonstrated experience supervising and mentoring survey staff

• Strong working relationships with local municipalities and approval agencies

• Experience managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously

• Strong leadership and team management abilities

• Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills

• Solid understanding of project financials and profitability
