The Role

Reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager, the Electrical Design Engineer will focus on developing innovative electrical solutions for a multinational client base. The role requires delivery of projects on time and within budget while managing complex technical scopes.


You will work across a broad range of projects, contributing to the design and commissioning of state-of-the‑art automated equipment used in the manufacture of life‑saving medical devices.


Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop new electrical designs and concepts
  • Evaluate and interpret customer specifications
  • Select appropriate components and materials for electrical systems
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety standards and regulations, implementing risk mitigation measures where required
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, project managers, and customers to deliver integrated solutions
  • Conduct electrical testing and troubleshooting to validate performance and functionality
  • Perform electrical qualifications (EQs), machine power‑up checks, quality checks, and provide project support
  • Set up and commission machines following power‑up
  • Provide technical input to estimation, procurement, commercial, and bid teams
  • Participate in project meetings and deliver regular progress updates to stakeholders
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and best practice

Qualifications & Experience

  • Third‑level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, completion of an electrical apprenticeship, or related discipline
  • 3–5 years’ experience in an electrical design role or relevant electrical systems exposure
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN)
  • Knowledge of automated machine design, specification, and development
  • Exposure to robotics, motion control, machine vision, and pneumatics is advantageous
  • Ability to generate technical documentation
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and regulations
  • Excellent attention xcfaprz to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability with experience troubleshooting complex electrical issues
  • Self‑motivated with high initiative and the ability to work effectively within multifunctional project teams
