Equipment Electrical Design Engineer

Our client, a global leader in providing advanced automation solutions to the medical device industry, is seeking multiple Equipment Electrical Design Engineers to join their growing team in Galway. This role will focus on the design, development, and commissioning of innovative, bespoke automation equipment used in the manufacture of life‑saving medical devices.

Reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will work across a broad range of projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance solutions that meet the needs of a discerning global client base.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• 
  
• Develop and deliver new electrical designs and concepts for automated equipment.
  
• Evaluate customer specifications and translate them into effective design solutions.
  
• Select and specify appropriate components and materials for electrical systems.
  
• Ensure all electrical designs comply with safety standards and industry regulations.
  
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and project teams to deliver integrated automation solutions.
  
• Conduct electrical testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation of designs.
  
• Perform equipment qualifications, machine power‑ups, and quality checks to support project execution.
  
• Commission machines on‑site and provide ongoing technical support where required.
  
• Support estimation, procurement, and bid teams with technical input during project scoping.
  
• Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates to stakeholders.
  
• Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in electrical design and automation.
  

Job Requirements:

• 
  
• Degree, diploma, or apprenticeship in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  
• 1–3 years’ experience in electrical design or hands‑on work with electrical systems.
  
• Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical) is an advantage.
  
• Understanding of electrical safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
  
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet project deadlines.
  
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate within cross‑functional project teams.
  
• Self‑motivated, proactive, and adaptable to dynamic project environments.
