Position Summary

Gi Group is pleased to represent a leading contractor in the search for an experienced Bid Manager. The successful candidate will take full accountability for the end-to-end bid process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, technically accurate, and commercially competitive proposals. This is a high-impact role requiring a blend of project management, strategic writing, and commercial acumen.


Key Responsibilities

  • Bid Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire bid process from initial expression of interest (EOI) and PQQ through to final ITT submission and post-tender interviews.
  • Strategy & Win Themes: Collaborate with directors to define "win themes" for each tender, ensuring our value proposition is clearly articulated and tailored to the client's specific needs.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the central point of contact for internal subject matter experts (SMEs), including Estimators, Engineers, and Legal teams, to gather necessary technical inputs.
  • Content Development: Lead the creation of persuasive non-technical content. Responsible for editing and proofreading all technical responses to ensure a consistent "one-voice" tone throughout the submission.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all submissions are fully compliant with client requirements, internal governance, and industry regulations.
  • Post-Submission Analysis: Lead "lessons learned" sessions for both successful and unsuccessful bids to drive continuous improvement in the bidding department.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Industry Expertise: Proven track record of managing successful bids within the Civil Engineering, Utilities, or Construction sectors.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tender deadlines simultaneously while maintaining extreme attention to detail.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Software Proficiency: Highly skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with InDesign or dedicated bid management software is highly advantageous.
  • Commercial Awareness: A strong understanding of contract forms (NEC, JCT) and the financial drivers behind successful infrastructure projects.
