Overview
Cobh Ramblers Football Club, a League of Ireland club with a proud history and strong community foundations, is seeking a proactive and highly organised
General Manager
to oversee the club’s day-to-day operations. This key leadership role will be responsible for ensuring effective operational management, maintaining full compliance with Football Association of Ireland (FAI) licensing regulations, delivering smooth matchday execution, and fostering strong collaboration across the club and governing bodies.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Oversee all daily operations of the club, including administration, facilities management, football logistics, and commercial activity.
Implement and monitor strategic and operational plans in alignment with the Board’s vision.
Manage budgeting processes, cost controls, and financial reporting in collaboration with the club Treasurer and Finance Committee.
Provide oversight and support across football departments (senior team, academy, underage and women’s teams).
Maintain relationships with suppliers, service providers, and stadium contractors.
FAI Licensing & Compliance
Ensure the club meets all FAI Club Licensing criteria (domestic and UEFA), including timely submission of required documentation.
Maintain comprehensive records relating to governance, infrastructure, staffing, medical provision, youth development, and financial controls.
Act as the primary point of contact with the FAI for all licensing and regulatory matters.
Lead on audit preparation and ensure ongoing compliance with all League and Association standards.
Matchday Operations
Plan and manage all matchday logistics to ensure a professional, efficient, and safe environment for players, staff, supporters, officials, and guests.
Coordinate stewarding, ticketing, stadium access, health & safety, media arrangements, and hospitality provisions.
Liaise with opposing clubs, referees, League delegates, and emergency services as required.
Ensure the stadium and facilities are fully prepared and compliant ahead of each home fixture.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Act as a key liaison with the FAI, League of Ireland, local authorities, sponsors, and other key stakeholders.
Work closely with the Chairperson, Director of Football, Academy Director, and wider football staff to ensure operational alignment with football objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with supporters, volunteers, community partners, and local schools.
Represent the club at League and FAI meetings and other relevant external engagements.
Commercial & Community Engagement
Support the club’s commercial development by helping to secure sponsorships, partnerships, and other revenue-generating opportunities.
Promote and support community outreach programmes that enhance the club’s local presence and social responsibility.
Coordinate with the club’s media and communications team to strengthen the club’s public profile and engagement.
Person Specification
Essential
Proven experience in a senior operational or general management role, ideally within a sports organisation or football club.
Strong understanding of football governance and FAI/UEFA licensing structures.
Excellent organisational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Financial acumen and experience in managing budgets.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in line with the football calendar.
Passion for football and commitment to the values of Cobh Ramblers FC.
Desirable
Degree or professional qualification in Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Familiarity with League of Ireland operations and matchday protocols. xcfaprz
