About

Our client specializes in creating high quality frozen par-baked artisan breads.

While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.
Responsibilities

1. Design & Development

This is the creative and technical heart of the role. You are designing the "skin" of the product.

  • Structural Design: Creating the physical architecture of the packaging using CAD software (like ArtiosCAD or SolidWorks).
  • Material Selection: Choosing the right substrate-plastics, corrugated cardboard, glass, or bio-composites-based on the product's fragility, weight, and chemical compatibility.
  • Prototype Iteration: Developing physical samples and 3D renders to test fit, form, and function before mass production.

2. Testing & Quality Assurance

Packaging must survive the "gauntlet" of the global supply chain.

  • ASTM/ISTA Testing: Conducting rigorous tests including drop tests, vibration tables (simulating truck/plane movement), and compression tests (stacking strength).
  • Environmental Simulation: Testing how packaging holds up in extreme humidity, heat, or cold.
  • Barrier Properties: For food or pharma, ensuring the package prevents oxygen or moisture ingress to maintain shelf life.

3. Sustainability & Cost Optimization

Modern packaging engineering is defined by "doing more with less."

  • Sustainable Sourcing: Transitioning from single-use plastics to recyclable, compostable, or PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) materials.
  • Right-sizing: Reducing "dead space" in boxes to fit more units on a pallet, which directly slashes shipping costs and carbon footprints.
  • Value Engineering: Analyzing the cost of every flap, glue point, and ink type to shave pennies off high-volume production.

4. Manufacturing & Integration

The design is useless if the machines can't build it.

  • Line Compatibility: Ensuring the packaging runs smoothly on automated filling and assembly lines without jamming or causing downtime.
  • Supplier Management: Working with external vendors to ensure print quality, color consistency, and structural integrity match the original specs. xcfaprz
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all labeling and materials meet safety standards
