Our Hardware Security group is pivotal in conducting thorough security assessments of the production hardware that powers our cloud architecture. We also set the standards for future Networking, Storage, and Compute components. Working collaboratively across Oracle, with trusted vendors, and engaging with standards organizations, we aim to shape the next generation of hardware platform security. Beyond defining the optimal hardware solutions, we understand that effective platform security hinges on the operational strategies employed with that hardware. Thus, we partner closely with OCI's operations and engineering teams, continually seeking to enhance Oracle Cloud's operational security posture by establishing best practices and requirements related to the supply chain and device management in our data centers. As a security-focused engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of one of the most prominent cloud services worldwide. Our OCI Security Architecture team is engaged in diverse tasks, including cloud security, application security, vulnerability analysis, threat modeling, and penetration testing. One of the key challenges we face is the rapid growth of our business, which drives us to continuously enhance our systems, tools, and automation, scaling our security expertise to unprecedented levels. We recognize that our software needs consistent investment. The challenge lies in making informed trade-offs, communicating decisions effectively, and executing precisely. Responsibilities Define and communicate requirements for new vendors and hardware (compute, storage, networking)
Conduct architectural reviews, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments of hardware infrastructure including:
Servers (Intel, AMD, and ARM)
Baseboard Management Controllers, such as Oracle's ILOM
UEFI and platform firmware
Smart NICS
Storage devices
Network controllers and peripherals
Offer consulting on security risks related to compute hardware and firmware specifically for cloud applications.
Advise and oversee device sanitization processes in accordance with NIST-800-88 R1 standards.
Establish standard operating procedures for safe usage of compute hardware throughout its lifecycle, including provisioning, operations, and decommissioning.
Skills Engage with Oracle Hardware Division and third-party vendors to grasp their future roadmaps.
Develop planning roadmaps aimed at driving multi-year security enhancements across OCI Infrastructure.
Assess engineering changes or revisions of existing components, such as new firmware for devices, and participate in external standards organizations to influence industry advancements.
Provide consulting support to development teams and vendors on designing and architecting secure systems.
Promote and advise on secure development lifecycle practices.
Effectively communicate and inform senior management on critical security topics and directions.
Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this position is competitive, with an annual hiring range from $120,100 to $251,600, along with potential eligibility for bonuses, equity, and other compensation deferrals.
