About
Lead the entire feature lifecycle for our mapping system, from designing the architecture to implementing both backend services and the user interface. Architect and develop highly responsive, geospatially distributed backend services and data pipelines for processing and serving complex map data. Build sophisticated and responsive web applications, translating complex datasets into powerful, intuitive products for our users. Influence the technical direction and roadmap of the team. Mentor engineers through design reviews and collaboration, and continuously work to improve system architecture and reliability. Ensure code quality and system maintainability by participating in and providing feedback during code reviews for both web and backend codebases. Partner closely with both cross-team and operations stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver software solutions that directly enhance our Mapping efficiency. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience 6+ years of industry experience in software development, with a successful history of owning and delivering complex software features from initial design through to deployment. Deep, full-stack expertise, encompassing both architecting and implementing scalable backend services and developing and deploying complex, modern WebGL-based applications using Vanilla JS / Typescript and frameworks such as React or Angular. Hands-on experience in full-stack development, including API design, implementation of geometric algorithms using Python, and familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes, Buildkite, CI/CD, and monitoring/alerting systems). Strong UX sensibility and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to advocate for strong user experience opinions and ensure implemented UI matches design specifications Excellent communication and collaboration skills, coupled with a strong sense of product ownership, capable of translating user needs into clearly defined technical solutions. Demonstrated sound judgment and a bias for action, effectively balancing the need for rapid development with long-term code quality and maintainability. Desirable Qualifications
Demonstrated background in UX Design for safety-critical or mission-critical applications. Experience in fields like autonomous vehicles, robotics, or other complex hardware/software systems. Proven ability to scale workflows and pipelines.
The base salary range for this position is $146K - $211.5K per year. Aurora's pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
