Tech Lead, Data Engineering (Digital Marketing) Alameda, CA 6 Months + Likely Extensions Role Summary We are seeking a Tech Lead - Data Engineering (Digital Marketing) to lead the design and delivery of scalable data platforms that power digital marketing analytics, customer insights, and campaign optimization. This role combines hands-on data engineering, architecture ownership, and team leadership, enabling marketing teams to make data-driven decisions across channels such as web, CRM, marketing automation, paid media, and third-party platforms. Key Responsibilities - Digital Marketing Data Architecture
Design and evolve marketing data platforms including data lakes, lake houses, and analytical data warehouses. Ingest and unify data from CRM systems, marketing automation tools, web and mobile analytics, paid media platforms, and third-party vendors. Apply modern data architecture patterns such as Medallion Architecture and domain-oriented data models to support scalable marketing analytics. Hands-on Data Engineering Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale marketing and customer datasets. Develop SQL-heavy transformations for campaign performance, funnel analysis, attribution, and segmentation. Create analytics-ready data models for Customer 360, journey analytics, and marketing attribution. Implement and manage DBT models, tests, snapshots, and macros. Ensure data quality, reliability, and freshness through validation and monitoring. Technical Leadership & Mentorship Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering teams. Lead code reviews, design discussions, and architecture reviews. Establish standards for documentation, version control, and CI/CD for data pipelines. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with Digital Marketing, Analytics, and Product teams to translate business needs into data solutions. Enable BI and analytics teams with trusted, business-friendly datasets. Act as a bridge between marketing strategy and technical execution. Required Qualifications
8-12+ years of overall IT experience with 6+ years in Data Engineering. Prior experience in a Senior or Tech Lead role. Strong experience with cloud data platforms (AWS preferred). Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python. Strong experience with DBT and analytical data modeling. Good to Have
Experience with digital marketing and MarTech data domains. Exposure to multi-cloud platforms (Salesforce). Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau. Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and quality frameworks.
The salary range provided for this contract role represents our good faith estimate for this position. Within the range, individual offers will vary based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, location and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process (W2 or C2C).
