About the Role
A leading global organization in the energy sector is seeking an
Industrial IT Network Engineer
to support and optimize networking infrastructure within industrial and operational technology environments. This role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining network components for virtual environments while ensuring reliability, performance, and security.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with
Cisco networking technologies, Layer 2/Layer 3 design, firewall administration, industrial networking, and monitoring platforms
. This position requires on-site collaboration with technical teams and participation in an on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and support enterprise network infrastructure including
switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and remote access technologies
.
Design, configure, and maintain
Layer 2/Layer 3 network environments
including VLANs, routing protocols (BGP/OSPF), ACLs, VPN tunnels, and segmentation strategies.
Troubleshoot and support
Cisco hardware and industrial networking systems
in secure and air-gapped environments.
Monitor and analyze network performance using tools such as
SolarWinds, Wireshark, and SNMP-based telemetry
to proactively identify and resolve issues.
Implement and maintain
network security controls
, including firewall policies, IDS/IPS integrations, and secure configuration baselines in coordination with cybersecurity teams.
Collaborate with internal teams and operational technology stakeholders to implement networking solutions that support industrial applications and assets.
Maintain documentation including
network diagrams, configurations, IP addressing schemes, and operational procedures
.
Required Qualifications
Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing
enterprise switches, routers, and firewalls
(Cisco or similar platforms preferred).
Strong knowledge of
industrial networking technologies
, including Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, VLAN segmentation, routing protocols (OSPF/BGP), and high-availability architectures.
Experience implementing
secure remote access solutions
and network segmentation strategies.
Hands-on experience with
network monitoring and diagnostic tools
such as SolarWinds, syslog, or similar platforms.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Additional Details
Work Schedule:
On-site role with participation in
on-call rotations (12-hour daytime shifts for one week at a time)
.
