About

Tier-2 IT Support Technician / Network Administrator
Technical Operations | Full-Time
*About the Role*
We are looking for a technically sharp, service-minded IT professional to join our Technical Operations team. You'll design, implement, and support network infrastructure and client systems — on-site and remotely — while collaborating closely with teammates to deliver reliable, secure, and well-documented IT environments.
This role is a great fit for someone with a helpdesk, field tech, or network administration background who's ready to take on broader responsibility and grow with a team that takes their craft seriously.
Responsibilities
* Install, configure, and troubleshoot workstations, servers, printers, network equipment, and cloud services
* Manage and support network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and wireless access points
* Implement and monitor network security measures including firewall rules, IDS/IPS, access controls, and encryption
* Perform vulnerability assessments, system hardening, and routine patching to maintain a strong security posture
* Support remote access solutions including VPN, cloud integrations with Microsoft Azure, and remote desktop tools
* Develop and maintain network architecture documentation, configuration records, and runbooks
* Provide technical support to end users, both remotely and at client locations
* Set reasonable client expectations and consistently work to exceed them
* Collaborate with team members on projects, escalations, and shared documentation
* Log all work accurately and with enough detail to stand up to review
* Identify and communicate technology improvements that would benefit clients
* Contribute to team knowledge by supporting less experienced techs and keeping documentation current
* Coach and train Tier-1 team members to minimize need for escalation
*Requirements*
* 2+ years of experience in a helpdesk, field tech, network administration, or IT support role
* Solid understanding of networking protocols — TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, SSL/TLS
* Strong knowledge of virtualization including Hyper-V and/or VMWare or other cloud virtualization platforms
* Hands-on experience with network hardware — routers, switches, and firewalls (FortiNet, Cisco, or equivalent)
* Proficiency with Microsoft 365 — including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Entra ID (Azure AD)
* Working knowledge of Windows desktop and server OS configuration and deployment
* Experience with network monitoring or security tools (Automate, Ninja, N-Able, Atera, or similar)
* Familiarity with scripting or automation — PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python
* CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ (or actively working toward certification)
* Experience with a ticketing or PSA platform (ConnectWise, Kaseya, Halo or similar)
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation — local travel required (~35% of the time)
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a variety of physical environments
Nice to Have
* Associate's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field
* Microsoft certifications — MS-900, AZ-900, SC-900, or Microsoft Entra (Identity & Access Administrator)
* Experience with Linux environments (Ubuntu, Debian, or CentOS)
* Familiarity with FortiGate firewalls
* Experience supporting Mac environments
* Familiarity with AI tools and large language models (LLMs), including how they can be applied to streamline IT workflows and support end users more effectively
*People Skills*
* Communicate clearly so clients and teammates always know where things stand
* Follow through; if you say you'll do something, do it
* Solve problems methodically and confirm resolution before closing the loop or document progress and eliminated potential causes before escalating
* Be a team player who gives and receives feedback well
* Take initiative without being asked and manage your time to meet the defined results expected
