Summary:
The Manager works in conjunction with and under the guidance of the division’s general manager. The position shall allocate budget resources with a goal to increased profitability coupled with company performance. This requires coordinating business operations with a resource pool, monitoring and motivating staff, managing operational costs, ensuring client service, assisting in improving administration processes, hiring and training needs of staff and assisting in identifying future business opportunities.
The position also provides oversight and assists in directing assigned inspectors to assist in meeting the client’s needs. As possible the manager shall leverage information from assigned staff with a growth goal identifying potential new areas for business development. The manager shall also assure they meet directly with our clients on a regular basis. Along with identifying potential growth the staff shall ensure that contractual obligations are maintained, specifications are being followed, and work is proceeding with quality, on schedule and within budget. The position may require direct construction management services assigned to contract opportunities and may be augmented with construction management responsibilities.
Manager Daily Job Responsibilities:
· Hold regular meetings with clients.
· Lead/Conduct quality assurance audits of assigned staff.
· Oversees performance of staff to assure specifications and regulations are being followed.
· Provide guidance to client/inspector to maximize efficiency.
· Follow up and maintain client interactions and expectations.
· Maintain and monitor internal and external reporting through company processes.
· Identify changes in project scope and monitor project budgets and expenditures with the objective of processing change order requests prior to expiration of funding.
· Proactively identify changes in project scope and ensure appropriate measures are taken
· Per contract requirements, review inspector reports, timesheets, expenses and assured accurate information is recorded and when deficient facilitate correction.
· Conduct regular staff reviews and coordinate required and professional development training.
· Assist and provide information to general manger to aid in developing appropriate reports to be presented to department vice president.
Manager Additional Duties:
· Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people.
· Recruit, select, orient, train, coach, counsel, and discipline staff as required. Enhance company image by; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; cultivating a climate for offering information and opinions; and providing career enhancement opportunities.
- Assist by providing technical support for proposals by willingly contributing to the efforts and pursuits of the company.
- Establishing plans, budgets, measurements; resources; reviewing progress; and making mid-course corrections as required to achieve designated goals.
- Build a company image by collaborating with customers, government, professional organizations, and employees; and enforcing ethical business practices.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies and conferences.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Pursing professional development and management certification/licenses. Present and discuss development plans with both general manager and vice president to establish reasonable goals.
Requirements:
· Report to/take direction from the department general manager and vice president and board members of DFI.
· The position requires a minimum of 40 hour per week commitment. In general working hours are determined by the individual to best suit one’s ability to achieve these goals and must provide easy accessibility to your services during DFI’s normal business hours as defined in the employee handbook. Work is primarily conducted at DFI’s main office and attendance is expected daily. This position does not typically support work from home.
· The position is expected to be able to respond to after normal working hour urgencies and emergencies within a reasonable time frame.
Working Conditions:
· Maintain valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
· Overtime and after hour’s work may be required to meet deadlines.
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds, access various site conditions including utilization of ladders, uneven/slippery terrain and other normal construction site conditions.
· Due to funding sources of contract opportunities, it is always required that the individual remain free of any drug deemed illegal by the federal government. Failure to do so is grounds for termination.
· The position is subject to background investigation.
This position reports to : The General Manager of Contract Management Services, President, Vice Presidents and Board of Directors at DFI.
