Position Summary
MXD Process is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Inspector to join our team specializing in industrial mixing equipment. The Quality Inspector plays a vital role in ensuring that all mechanical components, fabricated assemblies, and finished mixers meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This position will conduct inspections at various stages of the production process and help resolve non-conformities in collaboration with engineering, fabrication, and assembly teams.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Testing
Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of industrial mixers, tanks, and custom components. Inspect welds, machined parts, assemblies, and surface finishes according to engineering drawings and specifications. Verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools. Perform functional and performance tests where applicable (e.g., motor operation, runouts, RPM checks).
Documentation
Maintain accurate inspection records, checklists, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). Review and verify compliance with technical drawings, work instructions, and customer-specific requirements. Assist in the creation and improvement of inspection SOPs and checklists.
Collaboration
Communicate quality issues clearly with manufacturing, welding, and assembly teams. Work with engineers and project managers to resolve deviations and identify root causes. Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in internal quality audits. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing efforts. Recommend changes to processes or inspection techniques to improve quality outcomes.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or trade school certification preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience in quality inspection or quality control, preferably in an industrial equipment or metal fabrication environment. Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Proficient in using hand measurement tools (e.g., calipers, height gauges, bore gauges). Familiarity with weld inspection and ASME standards a plus. Experience working with ERP and quality management systems preferred. Ability to work independently and in a team environment with a high attention to detail.
Work Conditions
Primarily shop floor based. Regular lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, and standing for extended periods. Exposure to manufacturing environment with noise, welding, and machining operations.
