Pool Construction Project Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, field-driven Project Manager to oversee residential pool construction from excavation through final startup. This is not a desk job.
The ideal candidate thrives in the field, knows how to manage subcontractors, keeps projects moving aggressively, and understands how to balance customer expectations with production realities.
You will be responsible for driving schedule, quality, and profitability across multiple active job sites.
Core Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Production Management
- Manage 4–6 active residential pool projects simultaneously
- Be physically present on job sites daily
- Direct and coordinate excavation, steel or fiberglass pool drops, plumbing, electrical, decking, tile, coping, and equipment installation
- Identify and resolve field issues before they impact schedule or budget
- Enforce jobsite cleanliness and professionalism
Scheduling & Budget Control
- Drive project timelines to ensure on-time completion
- Sequence trades efficiently to eliminate downtime
- Monitor labor and material costs to protect gross margins
- Approve and manage change orders
- Coordinate inspections and ensure permit compliance
Client Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact during construction
- Set clear expectations and maintain proactive communication
- Manage difficult conversations professionally and confidently
- Ensure a high-end customer experience while maintaining production standards
Quality & Safety Oversight
- Inspect all phases of construction for workmanship and code compliance
- Ensure all work meets company standards and local building regulations
- Enforce safety practices on all job sites
- Coordinate and pass all required inspections
Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years in construction project management (pool construction strongly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of excavation, plumbing, electrical, concrete, and outdoor construction
- Experience working directly with homeowners
Skills
- Highly organized and schedule-driven
- Strong leadership presence in the field
- Ability to read plans and troubleshoot site conditions
- Comfortable making fast decisions
- Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
- Tech-comfortable (project management software, scheduling tools, mobile documentation)
Education
- Construction-related degree or equivalent field experience required.
Working Conditions
- Primarily outdoors in all weather conditions
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Regular travel between multiple job sites
- Physically active role (walking sites, reviewing work, meeting trades)
