THE OPPORTUNITY
The Intern - Data Scientist reports to the Manager of Business System and Intelligence and participates in the creation of a data warehouse, researching better modeling methods for sparse data sets, and the design and documentation of data management systems.
This internship is full-time onsite for the first 2 weeks, then moving to part-time on-site daily Monday through Friday at Silvus Technologies' HQ in the heart of vibrant West LA.
The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in creating and maintaining a data warehouse structure. Perform research into modeling techniques for time series problems with sparse data sets. Work with the Business Intelligence Manager to develop dashboards and perform maintenance on existing systems. Assist with any other tasks that are necessary for the Business Intelligence & Systems Teams. Deliver presentations to the Business Intelligence team on knowledge gained. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
In-progress bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or another related technical field. Basic understanding of statistics and probability. Basic understanding of Excel/Google Sheets. Hands on familiarity with programming languages and scripting. Understanding of presentation software and structure. Must be a U.S. Citizen
due to clients under U.S. government contracts. All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Python, JavaScript, SQL scripting. Possess an understanding of statistics and probability as applied to modeling data sets. Basic machine learning concepts and how to apply them to modeling data sets. Familiarity with general business structure and functions. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lift equipment, up to 15 lbs. for the setup of demonstration and testing. Walking/Moving to different meetings.
COMPENSATION
The pay range is NOT a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
CA Pay Range
$23-$23 USD
