GMP Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a well-established and highly respected manufacturer operating within the engineering sector. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Engineering team on a full-time, Permanent contract within the Worcester area.
This role offers 39 hours per week under a flexible working hours policy, with a salary of up to £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical engineering design, product maintenance and application engineering of dynamometers, systems and components, ensuring innovative, practical and cost-effective design solutions. The role will focus primarily on the Froude product line, translating customer requirements and internal initiatives into manufacturable designs while ensuring performance, quality, safety and regulatory standards are met.
Mechanical Design Engineer – Main Responsibilities:
* Design, develop and test mechanical components and assemblies using advanced engineering principles and tools.
* Collaborate with project teams to ensure product designs meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
* Produce and maintain technical documentation including specifications, drawings, manuals, and
* build and test procedures.
* Set up and maintain components and Bills of Materials (BOMs) within Visibility.
* Improve and refine existing product designs to enhance performance, durability and manufacturability.
* Investigate and resolve component or system faults identified throughout the product lifecycle.
* Design mechanical solutions tailored to specific customer requirements and applications.
* Provide technical support to sales during the proposal and enquiry stages.
* Support production during build, installation and product testing.
* Provide technical guidance during installation and commissioning to ensure successful delivery.
* Maintain professional knowledge and contribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Work closely with engineering, production and field service teams to support project delivery.
* Undertake additional duties as required to support business objectives.
Mechanical Design Engineer – Required Skills and Experience:
* HNC/HND or degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Ideally 5 years’ proven experience within a mechanical engineering role.
* Experience working with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
* Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM).
* • Strong expertise using SolidWorks CAD software for design modelling and drawing generation.
* Knowledge of engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar.
* Experience using mathematical computing and analysis tools such as Matlab, Excel or LabView.
* Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics and materials science.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
* Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
* Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
* Manufacturing experience is preferred.
