Join our busy logistics center in Chicago, Illinois, as a Receiving Clerk! We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of responsibility to manage our inbound shipments. As a Receiving Clerk, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy of our inventory by meticulously checking received goods against order documentation, identifying any discrepancies or damages, and efficiently processing this information into our system. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a dedication to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Prior experience in a warehouse or logistics setting is highly valued.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload shipments from various carriers.
- Verify contents of shipments against packing lists and purchase orders.
- Inspect all incoming goods for damage, shortages, or errors.
- Record all receiving activities accurately in the inventory system.
- Stage received items for put-away or further processing.
- Maintain a clean and safe receiving area, ensuring clear access.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues.
Requirements:
- Capable of regular lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform physical tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and verification.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Understanding of logistics and warehouse operations is beneficial.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
