*JOB DESCRIPTION *
We are seeking a highly disciplined and detail-oriented *Network Operations Engineer* to join our Infrastructure Operations team in New York. This role sits at the heart of a mission-critical production environment where network stability, correctness, and change quality have direct financial impact. The successful candidate will play a key role in *reviewing, validating, and deploying configuration changes* to the production network. This position requires strong technical fundamentals, a methodical approach to change management, and the ability to operate calmly and precisely in a high-pressure environment.
_*Key responsibilities:*_
· Review, validate, and deploy network configuration changes to production environments with a strong focus on risk mitigation and correctness
· Execute production changes following strict change-management, testing, and rollback procedures
· Perform peer reviews of network changes, automation code, and deployment plans
· Collaborate closely with network engineering, security, and DevOps teams to ensure safe and predictable releases
· Participate in production maintenance windows and on-call rotations
· Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, performing root-cause analysis and contributing to post-incident reviews
· Maintain accurate documentation of production configurations, procedures, and operational standards
_*Qualifications:*_
Ø Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
Ø Routing / Switching
· Strong knowledge of common technologies and protocols: Ethernet, VLAN, Spanning-Tree, LAG/MLAG, ARP, IPv4, static and BGP routing, NAT, VRF, VRRP/VARP, VXLAN, L2/L3 EVPN, Multicast PIM-SM... (Arista EOS preferred).
· Knowledge of Wi-Fi standards, time synchronization (PTP/NTP), DNS/DHCP and load-balancing preferred.
· Understanding datacenter and campus network infrastructures design and support requirements.
Ø Firewall / Security
· Strong knowledge of NGFW, Secure Web Gateway/web proxy and security L7 technologies: Application detection, SSL inspection, URL categorization, IDS/IPS, DLP, Sandbox, DDOS protection, DNS security… (Palo Alto & Zscaler preferred)
Ø Automation / DevOps
· Familiar with Linux networking and command lines
· Real world experience with Ansible, Python, Git, Visual Studio Code, Rest APIs, YAML/JSON, Docker, Gitlab CI/CD, Netbox, Eve-NG, SQL databases preferred.
Ø Monitoring
· Basic knowledge of SNMP and Syslog (LibreNMS, Prometheus/Grafana & OpenSearch preferred)
· Understanding of “Streaming telemetry”, OpenConfig/gNMI
Ø Miscellaneous
· Experience with Amazon AWS
· Experience with JIRA
Ø Soft skills
· Strong attention to detail and a rigorous, process-driven mindset
· Ability to follow procedures precisely and challenge changes that introduce unnecessary risk
· Comfortable working in environments where uptime, latency, and reliability are critical
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
Pay: $150,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
