About the Assignment


We are looking for a Data Architect (Contract) who is an expert in Azure data services with strong

experience working with complex and evolving datasets. The Data Architect will design and develop scalable data architectures that support analytics, reporting, and business decision-making, and will collaborate with data engineers, IT architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective data solutions. The scope of work includes defining data models and integration patterns, establishing data quality and governance standards, optimizing data platforms for performance and cost, and providing technical leadership across data initiatives.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop end-to-end data architectures that leverage Azure data services such as Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Event Hub.
  • Define data models, storage patterns, integration frameworks, and data flows aligned with business objectives and future scalability.
  • Establish and enforce data standards, metadata management practices, and data quality frameworks.
  • Partner with governance teams to ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide architectural guidance to data engineers and developers during solution design, development, and deployment.
  • Evaluate new cloud technologies, tools, and best practices to continually improve data platforms.
  • Work closely with analysts and business stakeholders to translate analytical needs into scalable data solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT architects to ensure alignment between enterprise architecture and data strategy.
  • Optimize data pipelines, storage solutions, and processing frameworks for performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot complex data issues, recommending long-term architectural improvements.
  • Contribute to the organization’s data strategy by identifying opportunities to enhance data accessibility, automation, and insight generation.
  • Advocate for modern data practices and drive adoption of cloud-native, data-centric solutions.


Experience and Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related data-focused roles.
  • Experience within P&C insurance industry preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with CSIO standards preferred
  • Auto insurance experience is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Azure data services, such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse
  • Analytics, Databricks, Azure SQL, and related tools.
  • Proficiency in data modeling and designing data pipelines, data integrations, and storage solutions.
  • Strong SQL skills and working knowledge of Python or another scripting language used in data engineering.
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, distributed data processing, and cloud-based data platform patterns.
  • Experience with data governance fundamentals, including metadata management, data quality processes, and security controls.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and IT teams.
  • Experience with performance optimization of data pipelines or data storage solutions.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices for data solutions (e.g., Git, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code).
