Find your future with us.Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) 787 Airframe Team is seeking Mechanical & Structural Engineering Managers (Level K) to join our Systems Stress, Payloads Stress or Seats Stress teams in North Charleston, SC.As the Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of analysis engineers supporting the 787 Aircraft Systems or Payloads. The statement of work will include future design, factory and fleet support, as well as interaction with the supply chain. The ideal candidate is a proactive, servant-minded leader who fosters a positive, collaborative work environment through clear communication, mentoring, and coaching. They will effectively manage multiple concurrent initiatives including both short and long-term assignments, build strong cross-functional relationships and promote a culture of engineering excellence and safety. Using sound engineering judgment, this leader will guide their team to deliver efficient, practical solutions that satisfy product safety requirements and business objectives.This position may require domestic and international travel as needed (approximately 10%) to support business and program goals.Primary Responsibilities:Staff and budget planning, as well as implementing best practices in program managementDevelop and execute business plans, policies, and procedures while formulating organizational and technical strategiesAcquire resources, provide technical management of suppliers, and spearhead process improvementsBuild and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports will be essentialProvide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes, while managing, developing, and motivating employeesMentor and develop team member's technical and leadership capabilitiesHelp facilitate daily team stand ups utilizing OPD best practicesProactive collaboration with customers and support organizations, build positive relationships (i.e. LE, Prod. Engineering, Operations, Fleet Support teams)Manage daily team priorities to effectively utilize team resourcesCommunicate with lead engineers, management and team membersEstablish clear RAA for lead engineers, foster and develop lead pipelineDevelop and execute business plans, policies and procedures and develop organizational and technical strategiesSupport hiring of engineering teamProvide technical guidance and oversite to team and partnerMaintain and update BOE/EAC/LRBP tools and processBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences)5+ years of experience in the Aerospace Industry1+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams1+ years of experience in using project management methodologies, including developing project plans, performance management, and managing issues and risksExperience managing projects and initiatives through to their completion/implementation hand-off pointPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):3+ years of experience leading aerospace design engineering teams and integrating within a global supply base and product value streams3+ years of experience with Boeing Commercial AirplanesKnowledge of Boeing products and processesKnowledge of Boeing 787 Aircraft Systems or Payloads or SeatsKnowledge of Boeing Structural Analysis MethodsExperience with commercial aircraft certification processes and regulationsDemonstrated ability in team building, coaching, and employee development to enhance team performance and engagementDrug Free Workplace:Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Pay & Benefits:At Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
