About
We are hiring a Picker/Packer for our facility in Des Moines, Iowa. In this essential role, you will be responsible for accurately picking items for customer orders and meticulously packing them for shipment. Your attention to detail is critical to ensure that customers receive the correct products in excellent condition. This position is a cornerstone of our e-commerce logistics operations. You will work with scanning equipment to ensure order accuracy and manage inventory levels within your designated picking area. The ability to work efficiently and independently, while also contributing to team goals, is highly valued. Safety is a top priority, and all employees are required to follow strict safety guidelines and utilize provided PPE. This role involves significant walking, standing, and occasional lifting.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick items from warehouse shelves based on customer order forms or digital pick lists.
- Inspect picked items for damage before packing.
- Select appropriate packing materials (boxes, padding, tape) to ensure product safety during transit.
- Pack items securely and efficiently, optimizing space within cartons.
- Apply shipping labels and prepare packages for dispatch.
- Maintain a clean and organized packing station and work area.
- Perform inventory counts and report any stock discrepancies.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet daily shipping targets.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in picking, packing, or general warehouse work is beneficial.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Proficiency in basic math and reading comprehension.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure order accuracy.
- Familiarity with warehouse logistics and inventory systems is a plus.
- Commitment to safety and the proper use of PPE.
- Ability to lift up to 30-40 pounds regularly.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
