POSITION SUMMARY: The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in the acute care hospital setting is responsible for the evaluation and assessment of communication, cognitive, and/or feeding deficits, effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services under an established plan of care, and timely documentation of services. The SLP consults with other members of their patients’ medical teams and collaborates with the patient and/or their support system to promote the highest level of safety and independence.
Qualifications:SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
They must possess a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders or similarly titled area that is consistent and acceptable to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
The Speech Language Pathologist must be licensed, certified or credentialed, as required in the state of practice.
They must possess or be eligible for a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
They must have a current CPR Certification.
At least one year of clinical experience within the acute care setting is required.
Experience performing VFSS preferred.
