**Position Overview**
Embark on an enriching journey with Autodesk as a Software Architect, stepping into a
position important to the transformation and modernization of our mission-critical Access
Administration and Insights platform. We are at the forefront of the company's Access
Administration needs and have tremendous visibility and impact across all of Autodesk.
The platform is critical to enable customers to have access to Autodesk Products and their
Product Data.
In this role, you will design and lead the development of autonomous, goal-driven AI
systems that reason, plan, and act across complex environments. This role focuses on
architecting multi-agent and single-agent systems that integrate LLMs, tools, memory,
and feedback loops into reliable, scalable software platforms.
You will define how agentic systems are built, evaluated, governed, and deployed in
production-bridging research advances with real-world engineering constraints.
This job will be Hybrid with occasional onsite workshops/meetings. Position may require
occasional travel outside Canada.
**Responsibilities**
**Agentic System Architecture**
Design end-to-end architectures for agentic AI systems, including:
o Planning and reasoning loops
o Tool/function calling frameworks
o Short-term and long-term memory systems
o Multi-agent coordination and communication
Define architectural patterns for autonomy, human-in-the-loop control, and safety
boundaries.
Establish standards for agent lifecycle management (creation, execution,
evaluation, retirement).
**LLM & Foundation Model Integration**
Architect systems integrating LLMs, multimodal models, and external tools/APIs.
Design prompt orchestration, context management, and retrieval-augmented
generation (RAG) pipelines.
Evaluate and select models (open-source vs proprietary) based on latency, cost,
quality, and risk.
**Orchestration, Control & Reliability**
Design control planes for agent execution, state management, retries, and failure
handling.
Implement guardrails for hallucination mitigation, constraint enforcement, and
policy compliance.
Architect observability for agent behavior, decision paths, and tool usage.
**Evaluation & Continuous Improvement**
Define metrics and evaluation frameworks for agent performance, task success,
cost, and safety.
Architect feedback loops using user signals, automated evals, and synthetic data.
Enable safe self-improvement and learning mechanisms where appropriate.
**Cross-Functional Leadership**
Partner with product, research, security, and legal teams to align agent capabilities
with business goals.
Mentor engineers on agentic design patterns and production best practices.
Review system designs and implementations for architectural quality.
**Minimum Qualifications**
**Core Experience**
8+ years of experience in software engineering or distributed systems.
3+ years designing AI/ML-powered systems in production.
Demonstrated experience building or architecting agent-based or LLM-driven
systems.
**Technical Skills**
Strong proficiency in Python and/or Java/TypeScript.
Deep understanding of LLMs, transformers, and prompt engineering.
Experience with agent frameworks
Solid grounding in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and APIs.
**Infrastructure & Platform**
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with vector databases and retrieval systems
