Henderson Health Care Services, Inc. is seeking a Full-Time Radiology Technologist to join the staff at the Henderson Community Hospital. Hours being FT days with rotating call schedule.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
-Performs imaging examinations including X-ray (fixed and portable), CT scans, DEXA scans, and mammography.
-Maintains patient rights and upholds confidentiality.
-Communicates emergency situations in the facility and alerts proper authorities if necessary.
-Assures the safety maintenance of equipment.
-Responsible for the care and operation of radiology equipment to minimize hazards of electrical shock and extraneous radiation to patients and personnel.
-Responsible for good quality digital images, maintenance of records and stock of supplies.
-Performs and records departmental and equipment QA’s.
-Orders supplies used in the department.
-Performs duties to include the storage and sending of radiology images, using the hospital EMR and the signing of the consent form to release of images, when applicable.
-Administers appropriate orders and charge codes (CPT codes) merged for each exam.
-Assists in routine cleanup, image storage on PACS, routing of images to the radiologist, and stocking of departmental supplies.
-Schedules exams for diagnostic radiology, ultrasound, mammography, echocardiography, bone densitometry, nuclear medicine, PET/CT, MRI, and CT and notifies patients of their appointment times.
-Interviews patients for medical history necessary for the radiologists, insurance guidelines and reimbursement.
-Performs exam paperwork and image set up for reading for all radiology exams performed in the department or through a mobile service.
-Operates EMR for scheduling, ordering, communicating, and maintaining records.
-Responds to emergency x-ray call after regular working day to include weekends and holidays with a response time of 30 minutes.
-Communicates critical findings to the ordering provider.
-Ensures exams are preauthorized for insurance payment.
-Attends in-services, meetings and classes as directed.
-Meets compliancy for all state and federal requirements.
-Takes diagnostic images within an 8-12% repeat rate, including computed tomography.
-Communicates effectively with patients and staff.
-Properly assesses the patient’s condition and capabilities.
-Utilizes patient safety and comfort measures.
-Educates patients on exam protocol and procedure.
-Follows radiation safety guidelines and infection control guidelines.
-If technologist is trained in mammography, tech must perform diagnostic quality exams and perform QA/QC as directed by the FDA/MQSA.
-Performs all other duties as assigned by the Radiology Manager.

*Education and/or Experience*
Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program. Proficient with the principles and practices of Radiation Technology as outlined by the State of Nebraska Health and Human Services. Understanding of X-ray patient care procedures and medical terminology required.
*Certificates, Licenses, Registration*
This position requires an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT, and Nebraska State License. BLS recommended.
