As a Design Engineer, you will: Create customized metal building structures, whether prefabricated or site-built, ensuring they comply with geographic requirements and government codes.
Review new orders for completeness and collaborate with sales teams and customers to gather vital information.
Conduct thorough analyses of assigned structures, focusing on roof, walls, accessories, and special structural elements.
Perform calculations to determine HVAC requirements, foundation reactions, and thermal analysis for building R/U-Values.
Maintain detailed records of analysis results, utilizing spreadsheets and databases to assist the engineering and bill of materials teams.
Interpret customer drawings and generate CAD designs.
Develop automated tools, processes, and standards to enhance efficiency in the design and manufacturing process while ensuring compliance with regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and execute special projects aimed at simplifying design processes and reducing lead times.
Support the Engineering Lead by generating design certification letters, preparing design calculations, and researching relevant codes or information as required.
Commit to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and documentation.
Qualifications: A four-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
At least 2 years of experience in structural engineering, HVAC systems, and CAD operation is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, RISA, and AutoCAD is essential.
A strong understanding of the International Building Code (IBC) and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) is necessary.
You must demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to comprehend technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
A proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical and cross-functional teams is crucial.
Outstanding problem-solving skills and a knack for devising innovative solutions are key to project success.
