based in Staffordshire (hybrid, two days on site), youll guide concepts into robust, manufacturable products for a well-known UK brand. Expect supplier exposure, meaningful ownership, and travel when it counts. Salary below, plus hybrid working and genuine progression.
Scope of the Role As a
Design Engineer , youll add technical judgement early, then own delivery through manufacture. Youll work with industrial design, suppliers, and stakeholders to reduce risk and move faster. Develop products from concept to manufacture. Assess feasibility, trade-offs, risk, and delivery routes. Produce CAD, drawings, BOMs, and documentation. Apply DFM across plastics, metals, and assemblies. Engage UK and international suppliers through sampling and pre-production.

Design Engineer ,
Product Design Engineer , or
Mechanical Design Engineer
on physical consumer products. End-to-end NPD, from early concept to release. Strong DFM judgement, cost/quality trade-offs, supplier collaboration. Communicate trade-offs clearly to non-engineers. Comfortable with ambiguity and field insight when useful.
Salary and Benefits £40,000
£45,000
basic salary, depending on experience. Hybrid working: minimum two days per week in Tamworth. UK and international supplier travel when needed. Chance to shape engineering process and early decision-making.
