We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our dynamic logistics team in Portland, Oregon. The Material Handler plays a crucial role in the efficient movement of goods within our warehouse. Your primary responsibilities will include receiving, storing, and distributing materials and products. This position requires physical stamina, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment. You will be responsible for ensuring that all materials are handled with care and efficiency to support our overall supply chain operations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a warehouse setting and possess a strong understanding of warehouse operations. You will work closely with other team members to ensure timely order fulfillment and inventory accuracy. This role is integral to the success of our logistics operations and offers an opportunity to grow within a leading distribution company. We emphasize a strong safety culture and expect all employees to adhere to strict safety protocols. Regular physical activity is a part of this role, including significant lifting. Familiarity with inventory management systems is a plus. We provide all necessary PPE and comprehensive safety training to ensure a secure working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials and products from trucks and containers.
- Move materials to and from storage areas using appropriate equipment.
- Accurately count and record inventory levels.
- Inspect materials for damage and report any discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to 5S principles.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with order picking and packing as needed.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Participate in inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and following instructions.
