We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to join our dynamic logistics team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate inventory levels, minimizing discrepancies, and ensuring the efficient flow of goods through our distribution center. You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing inventory control procedures, conducting regular cycle counts, investigating stock discrepancies, and identifying areas for improvement in inventory management processes. Your expertise will directly impact our operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure accuracy of inventory records.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies by analyzing receiving, shipping, and internal movement data.
- Implement and maintain inventory control procedures, including but not limited to, bin location accuracy, FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles, and quality control checks.
- Monitor stock levels and work with procurement to ensure adequate stock availability and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Generate and analyze inventory reports, providing insights and recommendations to management.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies regarding warehouse operations and product handling.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks when necessary, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory movements and update records in real-time.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, reduce waste, and streamline warehouse operations.
- Train and mentor junior inventory staff on best practices and procedures.
- Proven experience in inventory control, warehouse management, or a related logistics role.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in WMS software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in a warehouse environment.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Knowledge of proper PPE usage and commitment to safety standards is mandatory.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
