About
Job Duties:
The MT is responsible for promoting the Laboratory mission of providing accurate, reliable, reproducible, and timely test results utilizing the best technology available to provide our physicians with the means to treat our patients, from newborn to elderly, in a manner consistent with quality healthcare.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of established procedures and protocol by remaining abreast or updates and performance in all sections of the Laboratory (Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Serology, Immunoassay, Arterial Blood Gases, Urinalysis, Hemostasis, Transfusion Services, and Phlebotomy) as assigned.
Conducts chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine and stool to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
Participates and monitors activities related to continuous quality control such as variance, change of status and quality assurance improvements.
Performs general phlebotomy, including venipuncture, capillary or finger stick, heel puncture and radial arterial blood specimen collection and prepares these specimens for testing.
Maintains responsibility for the performance and completion of defined equipment, instrument maintenance protocols and ensuring adequate supply levels.
Performs instrument maintenance and maintains the physical laboratory space in a clean orderly fashion.
Must be able to respond to call in 20 minutes.
Education and Licenses:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, CLS, MLS or equivalent
Completion of an accredited Medical Technologist, CLS, MLS, or equivalent program
Current MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred
