About
Killam Apartment REIT, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada's largest residential real estate investment trusts, owning, operating, and developing a $5.3 billion portfolio of apartments and manufactured home communities. Killam's strategy to drive value and profitability focuses on three priorities: (1) increase earnings from the existing portfolio; (2) expand the portfolio and diversify geographically through accretive acquisitions, targeting newer properties and dispositions of non-core assets; and (3) develop high-quality properties in its core markets.
As part of our growth strategy, we are building internal technical expertise to materially improve building performance, energy efficiency, and carbon outcomes across our portfolio. • Review design criteria, equipment selections, and contractor submittals for new construction and retro commissioning projects;
• Translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for internal stakeholders;
• Work directly with site teams to resolve persistent operational issues;
• Other duties as assigned.

• Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in the design, commissioning, or operation of electrical and/or mechanical building systems;
• Experience with diagnosing and resolving real building performance problems in occupied mixed-use buildings (MURB);
• Fluent with Tridium Niagara (or similar complex BAS platforms) and comfortability working directly with trends, alarms and system logic;
• Proficiency in RETScreen and advanced energy data analysis;
• Understanding of various building systems including geothermal and VRF/Air to water heat pumps;
• Can work independently as a trusted technical resource while collaborating effectively with non-technical stakeholders;
• The following certifications are considered an asset:
o P.Eng or P. Eng eligible
o CMVP (Certified Measurement & Verification Professional)
o CEM (Certified Energy Manager)
o CBCP (Certified Building Commissioning Professional)
What we offer:
• A competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience (consisting of a salary in the range of $90,000-$130,000 annually plus bonus compensation);
• Autonomy to influence how our portfolio approaches energy performance and carbon reduction;
• A mix of strategic office work and hands-on site investigation;
